Reposted for Valentine's Day!!

This is a tasty and beautiful cookie. Obviously the cookies in the picture were for Valentine's Day but the recipe can be used any time of the year! Have fun and look forward to compliments!
Rhonda is a dear friend that is an excellent baker. This recipe and icing technique was provided by her.

Cookies

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup soft butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine all ingredients with an electric mixer set on low (1 - 2 minutes).
Divide dough into two pieces. Wrap sections separately in wax paper and refrigerate 2 - 3 hours before rolling out and cutting with desired cookie cutter.

Bake on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at 350 - 400 degrees for 6 to 10 minutes.

Allow cookies to cool completely before icing.

Icing

1 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup

Combine all of the above ingredients. If icing needs to be thinned. Sparingly add more corn syrup. Food coloring may be gradually added to obtain a desired color.

A successful icing technique is to place icing in a small bottle. Use the bottle to outline the cookie completely making a dam-like structure. Once the outline is complete you can flood the center with icing.
