1905 Salad Make-Over

Yummy 1905 Salad Copy
There is a restaurant here in Tampa, The Columbia, that is a favorite of our family. They make a great salad we have been trying to recreate for year. This recipe is a pretty good likeness ...I think you'll enjoy it but do go to the Columbia for the original!

4 cups Iceberg Lettuce torn in bite size pieces
1 -2 tomatoes sliced into 8ths
1/2 cup julienne sliced Swiss cheese
1/2 cup julienne sliced ham (or turkey)
16 -20 pimento stuffed green olives
2 teaspoons fresh grated Romano cheese
juice from 1/2 - 1  fresh lemon
2 cups Columbia Restaurant 1905 Salad Dressing (purchased or recipe below)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

Layer ingredients in a salad bowl in the following order:
lettuce
Swiss cheese
ham
tomatoes
Spanish olives

Just before serving sprinkle salad with Romano Cheese, Worcestershire sauce, dressing and lemon juice. Toss well!

Dressing:
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

Whisk together oil, garlic and oregano. Stir in vinegar beating to form an emulsion then season to taste with salt and pepper. If you can make this a day or two in advance and store it in the refrigerator it will be better!

Dressing can also be ordered on line at www.columbiarestaurant.com
