Brownie Bars

This is the recipe I posted on Facebook June 2010. I'm glad you all liked it as much as we did. It's similar to Magic Bars but not as sweet and in my opinion even better.
  • 1 box Betty Crocker Original Supreme brownie mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (one time I subbed butterscotch chips - was good)
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a 13" x 9" baking dish with foil (leaving 2" hanging over to lift out).
Stir together brownie mix, syrup in brownies, butter, and egg. Press this mixture into the bottom of the dish. Bake 10 minutes. Top with all the remaining ingredients (distributing evenly) except the condensed milk which you pour over the top. Bake about 20 - 25 minutes - watching it doesn't burn. Let cool 2 hours in the baking dish before cutting.
