Bacon Water Chestnut Appetizers

This is an "oldie but goodie".  I would venture to say everyone is familiar with this tasty little nougat. It never fails to go fast at our parties. Warning this recipe makes a large quantity. You can easily adjust the ingredients for smaller quantities.

1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar (that's just regular white sugar)
4 - 8oz. cans of water chestnuts - drained
2 pounds bacon
toothpicks

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Combine the first four ingredients and marinade in the refrigerator no longer than 30 minutes.
Wrap a 1/2 piece bacon around each chestnut securing with a toothpick.
Bake until bacon is cooked - 15 to 20 minutes.

If you desire these can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator. When you are ready to serve heat by broiling 5 minutes.
